Sound and Sleep Disturbance

Jeffrey, Krogh, & Horner. Adverse health effects of industrial wind turbines.

The 2010 Nissenbaum study of Maine wind energy projects concluded that noise emissions of IWT disturbed the sleep and caused daytime sleepiness and impaired mental health in residents living within 1.4 km (4953 ft).  Ontario survey, WindVoice, identified the most commonly reported IWT-induced symptoms as altered quality of life, sleep disturbance, excessive tiredness, headache, stress and distress.  Other effects included migraines, hearing problems, tinnitus, heart palpitations, anxiety, and depression. Industrial wind turbine noise is perceived to be more annoying than transportation noise or industrial noise @ comparable sound pressure levels.
